Short Course on Platinum Group Elements (PGE) Geochemistry

Short Course on Platinum Group Elements (PGE) Geochemistry

Prof. Marian Tredoux, one of the world leading experts in Platinum-Group Elements, presents aspects on the geochemistryof Platinum-Group Elements, their occurences and economic importance within a 3-day short course.

Preliminary Program

Friday

14.00 - 15.00: Intro to the PGE (physical properties, chemistry, mineralogy, applications)

15 min break and discussion

15.15 - 16.00: The analytical geochemistry of the PGE

15 min break

16.15 - 16.45: The basic geochemistry of the PGE -- chalcophile or siderophile?

15 min break

17.00 - 17.45: PGE in meteorites, and implications for the Earth's geochemistry

(Prac: PGE patterns - the basic concept) Final discussion.

Saturday
